What are the Advantages of Tithing?

Tithing is often a very misunderstood concept of the religious world. You can find a variety of Christian teachings when it comes to explaining the importance of tithing.  Some people say that tithing is just an old concept that doesn’t apply to us today in the present world. On the other hand, there are people who say that God limits blessings to people who don’t tithe. When we talk about tithing, we’re not using terms that are commonly used today. Because it’s not a common word outside of religious circles, many may be uncertain what is meant by tithing. In practical sense, the word ‘tithe’ means offering ten percent of our regular income to God. This amount is given or donated to a local church body. Now let’s look how tithing works:

Put it into Practice –  Giving a tithe is one way you honor God as your ultimate provider. It is a reminder that all of your resources belong to your Creator and are provided through His grace. As you give that first 10% of your gross income, you are fulfilling your responsibilities.

When to Give –  You should plan to pay tithes based on your pay schedule, and establish a pattern of giving when your resources increase. This habit is a consistent reminder for yourself of God’s faithfulness and to express gratitude to him by giving to them who needs the most.

Where to Give – Generally speaking, the tithe is given to the local church where you worship. This will support your church operations that actively serve you and maintain the work of the church in your community. 

What to Give – The amount given or donated is 10% of your gross income; and other resources as well, such as your time (giving Him the first part of your day), investing your energy in church and the community.
